Data Matching Program – Motor Vehicles

The ATO will be collecting details of ownership of vehicles purchased to the value of $10,000 or more during the period 1 July 2010 to 30 June 2011 from motor registries throughout the country. They will then use this information to improve compliance with tax obligations. This may highlight tax payers who have under reported their income and others such as business who may not have reported the sale of a vehicle.
